Rock Crystal is the most common variety of the mineral type quartz. People have found Rock Crystals for as long as human memory. The Ancient Greeks thought Rock Crystal was ice that was frozen for such a long time that it couldn’t melt anymore. This is also were Rock Crystal got its name. The word ‘crystal’ comes from the Greek word ‘Krystallos’, which means ‘ice’. Rock Crystal is known in all cultures as a healing and magical stone. Rock Crystal supposedly wards of demons and illnesses and was used as a source of energy. Rock Crystal can be found in geodes, but also in plain rock. The most clear and perfectly formed crystals are the most popular and the most sought after.
