Rutilated Quartz is, like the name implies, a combination of Rutile and Quartz. This combination only occurs when Rutile forms in a cavity and gets trapped afterwards in Quartz, often Rock Crystal or even Smoky Quartz. Rutilated quartz is rare, but less rare than just the golden Rutile needles, because the Quartz protects the fragile needles. The Rutile needles can form in a few different colours, the golden and the red ones are more common, but the silver and the dark brown crystals are more rare. Rutilated Quartz is a popular mineral for both collectors and jewellery fanatics, because both workable pieces and beautiful mineral formations are found often. Rutilated Quartz is one of the few that is not disregarded for its inclusions, but valued for them.
